Customize alert policies

Sentry has two kinds of policies. First are global policies, which govern all of your devices. Second are policy overrides, which allow you to customize policies on a per-device basis.

Global policies

To customize your global policies, navigate to the Administration menu and choose Policies.

There you can find all of your policies and edit them as desired.

Changes will take effect immediately for all devices in your organization which have not been overriden. You do not need to save.

If you have used a policy override, they will appear at the bottom of the relevant global policy configuration screen. For example, if I have used policy overrides for room temperature, they will be displayed at the bottom of the global policy configuration page for room temperature:

Policy overrides (location-based policies)

Policy overrides allow you to customize policies on a per-device basis. They take precedence over global policies.

To override a policy, open the relevant location and choose the location settings icon at the top right of the page.

Then choose Connected devices to find the Sentry you’d like to change.

Choose Alert policies for the relevant Sentry.

You will be presented with a list of all policies.

You may choose any configurable policy and override the global policy for this device by choosing Override this policy:

If at any time you wish to stop overriding the global policy, choose Use global policy at the bottom:
